Ol. 9, 02 ist das Wort = χάρμα gebraucht; Pseudo-Phocyl. 110. – Nach Schol. Pind. a. a. O. brauchten Ibyc. u. Stesichor. es für ἐπιδορατίς. – Wenn man das Wort von χαίρω herleiten will, so ist »Schlachtenfreude«, »Schlachtjubel« Grundbedeutung. Man vergl. die Wörter ἱππιοχάρμης, μενεχάρμης, μενέχαρμος, σιδηροχάρμης, χαλκοχάρμης und s. Curtius Grundz. d. Griech. Etymol. 2. Aufl.
